Every Wednesday night from 5:30-7pm, we hold pool sessions at the Hood River Aquatic Center. This is an opportunity for kids who have never kayaked before or are still working on their roll to practice their skills. Roll instructors are present at the pool sessions and will work with kids on the skills of their choice. Attendance at a roll session is required in order to join our river paddles. Kids of all ages are welcome.

Every Thursday night, we come together for a weekly paddle down the Lower White Salmon. We meet at 5:30 on Thursdays in the parking lot across from Wet Planet Whitewater in Husum, WA. Please wait to put on the river until we have done our group orientation and safety talk. We take out at Northwestern Park and generally finish between 7-7:30. Please pick your child up at the park. We require a confident pool roll, all proper equipment, and attendance at one of our roll sessions (unless permission is granted prior to the event by a lead volunteer). If you do not own the appropriate river equipment or you are not sure what is required, please read more in our gear section below.

We require all children to have a helmet, PFD (personal floatation device), spray skirt, closed toed river shoes, paddle, kayak, and appropriate layering/dry wear to join us for river paddles. Appropriated layering means no cotton clothing and a fleece or synthetic layer under dry wear. Appropriate dry wear means either a wetsuit and splash top/dry top, a dry top, or a dry suit.
For pool sessions we require all children to have a skirt, kayak, and paddle. A PFD is not required, but it is recommended.
If you do not have the appropriate gear and you would like to borrow ours please fill out the form below and submit it by noon on the day of the event. Gear requests submitted after noon on the day of the event may not be received.

Weekly Paddles
Every Friday night we come together for a weekly paddle down the Lower White Salmon. We meet at 4 on Fridays in Husum. Before every paddle we group up for introductions and a quick safety talk. We recommend that you go in an inflatable kayak if it is your first time in whitewater. Contact us if you have any gear needs.
